| "Grief is not a sign of weakness, Nor lack of faith, it is the price of love." -TCF, Valley Forge, PA "Grief is not an enemy. Grief is the ceremony of lost treasure. Grief is the homage you pay to the love you were once blessed to share." -TCF "A sacred illness is one that educates us and alters us from the inside out, provides experiences and therefore knowledge that we could not possibly achieve in any other way, and aligns us with a life path that is, ultimately, of benefit to ourselves and those around us." - Deena Metzger Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. While our guest book only has space for 3 to 4 sentences, we personally reply to all messages. If you were touched by a reflection, have an update or caring thought to offer others, would like to share that you joined our Ruby Ring Forgiveness Club or would like to ask for prayer and a vigil candle lit for you or a loved one, please leave a message at our Guest Book. |

| Why a Vigil Candle Ministry? | ||||||||||||||||||
| Vigil Keeping is our way of prayerfully responding to and mindfully connecting with the grief, illness and struggles of those who visit this site. The act of lighting individual candles for the visitors who sign our guest book is our way of keeping watch and "being with" the person as companions who have also faced loss and hardships of many kinds. Lighting a candle for another is a leap of faith that asks us to believe that prayer, spiritual care and the desire to comfort can transcend words and physical presence. To believe this is always to make a choice---to believe that extending love, compassion and hope to another through asking for God's healing presence and intervention can make a difference. As a vigil candle burns brightly for each person who posts, our prayer is that peace can illuminate the path to wholeness, recovery, optimism and divine consolation. We invite any who would like, to join us in our Vigil Candle ministry for others. "Lighting a candle is a spiritual practice in many traditions. Often the flame is seen as a sign of the presence of God. Candles are common in worship places or are used to sanctify---make sacred---ordinary space (including cyberspace.) A single flame stands for the unity that underlies all the traditions." -from www.gratefulness.org. (This highly-recommended site has a number of life-giving ministries including a beautiful candle-lighting meditation.) |
